Meet Our Storytellers
With over 25 years of entomological fascination, Dr. Samuel Ramsey is a pioneering figure in bee research, focusing on emerging symbioses and their impact on pollinator health. His work spans various bee species, revealing devastating pandemics affecting pollinator populations. The Ramsey lab compiles global data on bee symbionts. Dr. Ramsey's award-winning research on the Varroa destructor parasite earned him international recognition. A Cornell and University of Maryland alumnus, he founded the Ramsey Research Foundation and SYZYGY Media Collaborative to make scientific information more accessible.

Madison, currently working in the BioFrontiers Lab at CU Boulder under Dr. Sammy Ramsey, is a passionate advocate for science education and outreach. She has spearheaded various programs, such as SciComm @ UCR, Science for Citrus Health, and the Entomology Outreach Program. Madison's dissertation, guided by mentor Jessica Purcell, delves into the ecology and genomics of social insects. Her research combines lab experiments, ecological and genomic data collection, and computational modeling to explore insect social traits and their environmental impact. Madison holds a bachelor's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Colorado Boulder (May 2017).

Chris serves the BioFrontiers Lab at CU Boulder as lead apiary manager, and manages several hundred of his own honey-producing hives as founder of Boulder Valley Honey. He serves research laboratories and community farming nonprofits as technical support to develop embedded systems for conducting research and site-specific tools for sustainable farming. Chris holds degrees in electrical and computer engineering and computer science engineering and has a penchant for triathlon and thru-hikes.

From directing on set to manipulating footage, he finds inspiration in crafting unique, emotive experiences on screen, driven by limitless storytelling possibilities.

Shin is an award-winning independent photojournalist with specialization in marine conservation stories and a freelance researcher on sharks and rays. He is also a Stringer photojournalist for Getty Images, a contributing photographer to National Geographic and National Geographic Thailand. He has a Master of Science in Ecology from Prince of Songkla University and a Bachelor of Science, Environmental Science from Mahidol University International College.

Amanda is a researcher and visual storyteller focused on sharing compelling stories that incite positive action. Her research lab, fluxscapes, explores the role of urban design and architecture in fluctuating landscapes. She is also the founder of Little Bird Creative Co, a full-service design agency in Nashville, TN. She serves as the resident Director of Photography on shoots for SYZYGY Media Collaborative.

Lawrence is Chief Executive Officer of SYZYGY Media Collaborative and VP of Operations at Ramsey Research Foundation. He is a visionary business leader with a breadth of experience across corporate strategy, venture capital, social entrepreneurship, and international development. Prior to joining SYZYGY and RRF, Lawrence was a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group and a strategy and operations leader at DoorDash. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business with high distinction.
